Yorkshire Terrier
Yorkshire Terrier is one of the most lovable admired breeds in the whole world. Also in short known as the Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier wonderful little dog originated in Northern England, where it was intended to hunt vermin, such as small snakes, mice, rats, lizards and other rodents.
Yorkshire Terrier when small could easily hunt down pests in the mine shafts and mills. Their keen ability to hunt made them very popular for finding other animals, such as foxes and badgers which protect your cattle sheeps and hens. It appears that the Yorkies were cross-bred from various terriers such as the Skye Terrier, the Manchester Terrier as well as others which produced the the long-haired variety we generally associate with them.
The breed Yorkshire Terrier was originally quite a larger than the breed which ones we see today, and was down-sized in the selective breeding to obtain the smallest size possible, genetically this was the research and development done by some dog organisation.
Yorkshire Terrier is indeed a terrier, Yorkshire Terrier has become more of a fashionable breed for young and old ladies to carry in their designer bag, and such. The American Kennel Club, has the modern Yorkie Yorkshire Terrier classified with the Toy Group and you will find them at the various dog shows under that category.
Yorkshire Terrier got many recognisition in the year 1885.
Yorkshire Terrier is considered to be one of the cute smaller dogs in the toy Group of dogs. It has a flat head on top, a small black nose and small dark eyes. The judges at the shows will be looking for teeth with a level bite and erect ears which form a V shape.
Yorkshire Terrier you will find their ears floppy, bcoz of the breeder's lack of know-how in getting them to stand up. The legs should appear straight when viewed from the front.
Yorkshire Terrier feet have black toenails with removed dew claws to see. The tail is standardly docked and higher than the back. While tail-docking is illegal in much of Europe, it is customary in the US.
Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie is well known for its lovely shiny coat of fine silky hair. They don't shed as much as many breeds, sometimes bcoz of Yorkshire Terrier hair dog can be hypoallergenic. They generally have either a silver, blue or black coat after their puppy hood coloration of black, tan or brown. The hair on the dog's head is usually tied up to keep from getting into the food n H2o dish and to show off their lovely faces.
The Yorkshire Terrier should be groomed every 3-6 weeks and combedand brushed 3 to 4 times daily.
